IMPORTANT UPDATES
Canine cough and canine influenza has been a number one problem in the Bay Area recently.
Due to ventilation problems, some boarding facilities had to shut down completely to let it run its course,
unfortunately this is not an option for our resort.
Even though our building is well ventilated, canine cough (known as tracheobronchitis) and canine influenza
is an airborne virus and both can spread quickly in any environment where there are a great deal of our
canine friends hanging out.
While most of our furry buddies that get the doggy cold or flu will recover themselves after it runs its course,
pretty much like when us humans when we catch a cold or get the flu, some cases can be more severe and will
require veterinary treatment.
Symptoms for the cold and flu are very similar so here's what to watch for: soft moist cough that persists for a
number of days, reduced appetite, sneezing, discharge from the eyes or nose, lethargy, fever and in some
cases, your dog may have a dry cough.
If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian to
determine the best way to treat your pet.
The most important thing you can do as a pet owner is to make sure your fur bud receives the bordetella and
influenza vaccines on an annual basis to help protect your pet and if you need to leave your pet at a boarding
facility, you want to have these vaccines administered well in advance prior to leaving your pet.
Both of these vaccines are mandatory at our facility as well as the distemper and rabies vaccines.
Lets all be PET SAFE & PET SMART when it comes to our fur buddies health!
